K.R. WOOD is now booking his Award Winning Texas History School Show

“FATHERS OF TEXAS”

 

Shows include: The Story of the Texas Revolution, History of the Cattle Drives, Westward Expansion, Tales of Davy Crockett, and Los Tejanos (commemorating Tejano Heroes) All Told Thru Stories and Song. K.R. Wood, Singer, Songwriter, Musician, Historian has been traveling the Great State of Texas teaching students history for almost 20 years. He is known as “Camp Cookie” (the cook on the chuck wagon for the cattle drives) and we also offer a complete Chuck Wagon Setup which includes an authentic 1880’s chuck wagon with chuck box, bedroll, coffee pot, etc.

 

K.R. Wood’s Fathers of Texas CD was adopted by the State of Texas and approved for Texas TEAKS history curriculum for 4th and 7th grade Texas history students. In 2000, Harcourt Publishing and Holt Rinehart and Winston Publishers included over 25,000 “Fathers of Texas” CDs as a supplemental teaching aide.

KR has been recognized by the 75th Texas Legislature in 1997 for keeping Texas History alive with his first Fathers of Texas CD, is an adopted member of the Davy Crockett family and the Texas Alabama Settlement Group, and his Fathers of Texas album was adopted by the State of Texas approved Texas history curriculum through Harcourt Publishing. On April 20th, 2011, K.R.’s Fathers of Texas Music Series and the documentary Fathers of Texas: 175 Years of Texas Independence was recognized by both the House of Representatives and the Senate with a resolution commemorating his work in keeping Texas History alive. On September 5, 2013 K.R. had the distinct honor of being inducted as an honorary member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas with the San Jacinto Chapter and also inducted as an honorary Admiral in the Texas Navy Tom Toby Squadron.


He performs unique and spirited cowboy entertainment from solo to an 8 piece band. K.R.’s repertoire includes the old traditional/western music, country, gospel, blues, bluegrass, and old time rock and roll. He entertains often at the Hyatt Lost Pines, Bob Bullock Museum, The Alamo, many corporate events, educational school shows, private parties and anniversaries, rodeos, and other Texas festivals.
